I’m excited to announce the launch of the Kickstarter project for Tales from Lost Vegas — the new comic book to be released in this year’s Vegas Valley Comic Book Festival. I illustrated a small section of the book and I can tell you right now the talents helping out with this project will blow you away!

What’s even more exciting is that the proceeds will go to the Las Vegas Library district. It will help support and promote reading for all ages. Please take the time and contribute what you can and know that it’s for a good cause. Share it with your friends and let’s get this party started!

Tales from Lost Vegas is an original, 40-page, full-color comic book that tells the story of three middle school friends who discover a lost complex hidden beneath the streets of Las Vegas, where they encounter robotic ants, cybernetic mob enforcers and the floating head of Howard Hughes. It’s a fun, all-ages adventure-comedy packed with witty banter, bizarre characters and genuine drama.

Written by Ed Hawkins, who also developed the concept behind 2011’s Tales from Fremont Street, Tales from Lost Vegas will be the first full-color entry in this popular series of comics published by Pop! Goes the Icon featuring all-Las Vegas-based creators, designed to commemorate the annual Vegas Valley Comic Book FestTales from Lost Vegas will debut at this year’s festival, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013.

The Comic Book Fest, which is part of the city-spanning Vegas Valley Book Festival, celebrates the illustrated word with national and local creators, panel discussions, workshops, an Artist Alley, retail marketplace, children’s activities, films, music, and much more. In just five years, the festival grew from 800 attendees to more than 3,000 in 2012, and thanks to the support of efforts such as ours, it’s all made possible free of charge to the community.

As part of our ongoing effort to provide a platform for undiscovered and hidden talent from Southern Nevada, Tales from Lost Vegas will feature artwork by a handful of new and emerging talents based in Sin City, including Justin Ayers, Daniel Blodgett, Steve Benton, Kenneth Lamug and Jska Priebe.
