ABOUT THIS MINI-CLASS

Even if you’re new to comics, graphic novels, and how publishing works, Ken Lamug will take a little bit of time to orient you with basic information at the beginning of this lesson. You’re in good hands. Ken has been making comics and graphic novels for years. He’ll share resources, such as websites and books, that you can use to explore more in-depth.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN

LESSON 1: A Quick Graphic Novel Primer
Ken will orient students with some comic, graphic novel, and publishing basics. He’ll share some of his favorite resources, then dive right into making a comic panel.

LESSON 2: Let There Be Words
Ken will show you how to write a synopsis or a summary of your story. Then he’ll walk you through outlining through both chapter and page breakdowns. He’ll share different examples of how to script your story.

LESSON 3: From Words to Pictures
Ken will share illustration tools that he uses, how he does thumbnails, inking, and coloring, speech bubbles, and panels.
