Over the weekend I had the opportunity to check out Tim Burton’s LACMA show. It was packed due to the holiday break but it was worth it to see the original art. It’s an obvious understatement to say that Tim Burton is a great talent, but looking at his “pen to paper” work is quite inspiring. I learned quite a few things that I want to try in my illustrations. I never went to Art school so this is all great stuff to devour!

I wish that the Tim Burton LACMA book lived up to the show. I felt that there wasn’t enough in there to see. So even if you have the book, make sure to visit the show. I Love the character models from the stop motion movies, costumes from films (batman, edward scissor hands), looking at the full size black and white/color illustrations as well has his very early works.

While at LACMA, i checked out the Boone Children’s Art Gallery. The kids can join and create some artwork of their own. The image above is just a sample of the “wall of art” from past participants. I went ahead and tried to enter a small contribution. I’m not sure if it will end up here or in the trash but if you do see it when you visit, then you will know that the Rabble Rouser was there!
