This is a children’s picture book structure break down for Mousetropolis by R. Gregory Christie. This breakdown will contain spoilers.
Once upon a time:
(Pages 1-3) City Mouse was wide-awake as there was too much noise in the city. Good thing a letter arrived from Country Mouse!
Until one day:
(Pages 4-5) City Mouse travelled to the country and was greeted by Country Mouse. But he was quickly bored and wanted to have fun.
(Pages 6-19) The two went for a trip through the woods, and a dance jamboree. But later that night, everything seemed too quiet and they were wide awake. They both had the same idea of making a trip for the city.
And because of this:
(Pages 20-25) The friends arrived in the city and everything was different, from the tall buildings to the dancing mice by the train station. There were lots to eat and there were busy mice going about their business.
(Pages 26-27) But there was also a big problem, a large cat was about the area, which causes all the mice to scatter.
(Pages 28-29) Quicker than a page turn, Country Mice returns to the country and he was happy.
(Page 30) City Mice seems satisfied being back at his apartment as well!
Total # Pages: 32
