Happy February! The month flew by and my to-do list is stacking up. I hope you’re doing well wherever you are. Check out some tried and true ideas about creativity, our brains, and absorb amazing art from Luca.

Read the “Luca Art Book” for Free! (Disney/Pixar)

Disney has made the art book for Pixar’s Luca available to read online. The PDF can be found on Disney’s website, and shows some of the gorgeously messy concept art and how it evolved into the final film.

While you’re at it, make sure to check out The Mitchelles VS The Machines Art Book posted on Netflix’s Awards website.

22 Facts About The Brain

As humans, we are imperfect beings. We face challenges on an almost daily basis and it’s tough! But would you be surprised to find out that a lot of those challenges we end up bringing upon ourselves? It’s always good to take a step back and just think about how we function and specifically how our brain works. Then we might have a little bit of understanding of what we need to do to improve ourselves.

I love Psych2Go’s videos explaining the psychological and scientific processes of our brains. I highly recommend their other videos as well – they’re quite interesting and informative. I always end up going into a rabbit hole digging about each aspect or theory. This video is about our brain and is based on an article from the DENT Neurologic Institute. It dispels a lot of common myths about our brain and how it works.

1,000 True Fans

“To be a successful creator you don’t need millions. You don’t need millions of dollars or millions of customers, millions of clients, or millions of fans. To make a living as a craftsperson, photographer, musician, designer, author, animator, app maker, entrepreneur, or inventor you need only thousands of true fans.”

“A true fan is defined as a fan that will buy anything you produce. These diehard fans will drive 200 miles to see you sing; they will buy the hardback and paperback and audible versions of your book; they will purchase your next figurine sight unseen; they will pay for the “best-of” DVD version of your free youtube channel; they will come to your chef’s table once a month. If you have roughly a thousand true fans like this (also known as super fans), you can make a living — if you are content to make a living but not a fortune.”

It seems impossible, but if you look at the number of successful crowdfunded projects out there from Kickstarter to Patreon, creators and artists are proving that this concept really works.

Creativity is one of those things that you have to use, rehearse and practice often. If you don’t, it can easily fly away and it takes a while to capture once again.

There are a few habits we can develop and incorporate into our daily life that will help keep our creative minds sharp.

Here are some cool resources to keep your creativity going or jump start it once again
